The Korea Aerospace Research Agency announced that it held the first kickoff meeting for the development of reusable launch vehicles on the afternoon of the 3rd in Daejeon. Starting this year, the agency plans to actively proceed with key technology development projects and system development exploratory research to substantiate the roadmap for reusable launch vehicle development. Seven experts from the government, research institutions, and universities attended the kickoff meeting, where they discussed strategies for selecting business models for reusable launch vehicles in private enterprises and directions for carrying out the planning project.

The National Research Council of Science and Technology reported that on the 3rd, Chairman Kim Young-sik and heads of 23 government-funded research institutes visited the National Daejeon Cemetery to pay their respects as their first official activity of the new year. They then visited the joint memorial for the victims of the Jeju Air plane accident established in Sejong City to offer condolences. Chairman Kim noted, "The research council and government-funded research institutes will strive for the future of a safer and better Republic of Korea under the banner of the completeness of national science and technology R&D."

The Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) announced that it will participate in the world's largest IT exhibition, "CES 2025," held from the 7th to the 10th in Las Vegas, United States. This will be KIST's fifth participation in CES as an institution. At this CES, KIST plans to showcase seven exhibits in promising technology fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, quantum technology, and medical technology. KIST Director Oh Sang-rok stated, "We will spare no effort in building global partnerships to promote KIST's technology transfer and commercialization not only domestically but also internationally."
