Seoul National University Bundang Hospital announced on the 3rd that Lee Pyeong-bok, head of the Pain Center (professor of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine), has been appointed president of the World Society of Pain Clinicians (WSPC). His term lasts for two years, from January this month until December 2026. The WSPC was established in 1984 in the Netherlands to advance the field of pain research and treatment. The new president is a globally recognized authority in the field of pain medicine, having served as president of the Korean Pain Society, president of the Korean Spine Pain Society, and chair of the WSPC's executive committee. During his tenure as president of the Korean Spine Pain Society, he led the publication of the first domestic textbook on spine pain and chaired the joint academic conference of the WSPC, Korean Pain Society, and International Spine Pain Society in Seoul last year. This event provided a platform for over 1,200 global pain medicine experts, significantly contributing to raising the profile of Korean pain medicine worldwide.

In this evaluation, the Busan National University Hospital's emergency medical center received high marks, ranking first nationally in direct treatment rates by specialists, patient distribution rates and composition ratio for serious conditions, and final treatment provision rates.
