Seoul National University Hospital announced that Professor Kang Chang-hyun of the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery was elected as the next president at the 56th Annual Meeting of the Korean Society for Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery on the 24th. His term will begin on Jan. 1, 2025, and will last for two years.

Founded in 1968, the Korean Society for Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery is an academic organization that actively engages in various activities both domestically and internationally, including academic meetings, policy proposals, and international exchanges, with the goal of advancing the fields of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery.

Professor Kang Chang-hyun, elected as the 53rd president, is an authority in the treatment of common thoracic conditions such as lung cancer. He currently serves as the Director of the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery at Seoul National University Hospital and the head professor of the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery at Seoul National University College of Medicine. Professor Kang noted, "I will do my best to promote the development and unity of the Korean Society for Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, as well as to enhance patient safety and the quality of healthcare."
