Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) announced on the 17th that it held the '2024 UNIST Research Administration Day' event at the Gyeongju Lahan Select. This event was held to enhance the professionalism of research administration personnel and to develop creative problem-solving skills. About 100 research administration personnel affiliated with UNIST attended. President Park Jong-rae pledged during his speech, "I will do my utmost to support UNIST in leading a new paradigm of research administration in South Korea."
Cadence Design Systems Korea, a U.S. software corporation, donated the Cadence Palladium Z1, a semiconductor design specialized equipment, to the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). The donation ceremony, held on the morning of the 17th, was attended by KAIST President Lee Kwang-hyung, KAIST Graduate School of AI and Semiconductor Dean Yoo Hwae-jun, KAIST Semiconductor Design Education Center Director Park In-cheol, Cadence President Shin Yong-seok, and Cadence Executive Director Do Ji-hoon. The KAIST Semiconductor Design Education Center (IDEC) plans to establish a system and technical foundation to enable the use of the equipment in university laboratories across the country by creating training programs for the use of the Palladium Z1.
The Korea Polar Research Institute announced that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the National Incheon Marine Museum on the 16th to contribute to the spread of polar maritime culture through content collaboration in the polar ocean field. The signing ceremony was attended by Korea Polar Research Institute Director Shin Hyung-cheol and National Incheon Marine Museum Director Woo Dong-sik. The National Incheon Marine Museum is a four-story marine cultural museum that opened on the 11th in Bukseong-dong, Jung-gu, Incheon. The Korea Polar Research Institute had previously donated biological specimens, including emperor penguins, to the museum.
The Science and Technology Policy Institute (STEPI) announced that it held the '2024 Technology Regulation Policy Research Conference' on the 17th in the afternoon under the theme of 'Seeking a shift to a risk-based regulatory system' in collaboration with the Korean Regulatory Society. The College of Engineering at Seoul National University announced that it collaborated with the Seoul National University College of Medicine and Seoul National University Hospital to hold the '12th Seoul National University College of Engineering-Medicine-Hospital Medical Device Forum' for 2024. This forum was held to further activate collaboration among the College of Engineering, College of Medicine, and Seoul National University Hospital to foster synergy in future medical innovations. Haptic devices that allow for the sensation of surgical instruments during remote robotic surgery and high-resolution neural signal restoration technology using ultra-resolution AI were presented.
