■The Ministry of Health and Welfare announced on the 9th that the results of the 8th Financial Project Evaluation Committee indicated that the private investment project for the construction and relocation of Yeongwol Medical Center (BTL) passed the preliminary feasibility study. The total project cost for the Yeongwol Medical Center construction and relocation is 142.7 billion won, with the project period from this year to 2028. ■GC Green Cross announced on the 9th that it signed a joint research agreement with Dong-A ST for the development of chronic inflammation disease treatment based on messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) and lipid nanoparticles (LNP). mRNA acts as a genetic material that provides instructions for the body to produce proteins. LNP is a delivery system that injects mRNA into the body in nanoparticle form, serving as a key technology that enables the development of mRNA-based drugs. Under the contract, GC Green Cross will synthesize mRNA that can act on selected targets and screen and optimize LNP that can deliver to specific tissues. Dong-A ST plans to elucidate the mechanism of action of the mRNA-LNP materials derived by GC Green Cross and evaluate their efficacy in animal models.
■Boryung announced on the 9th that its establishment has been selected as an 'excellent establishment' in the voluntary energy efficiency goal system organized by the Korea Energy Agency. The establishment is a smart factory in Boryung that was completed in 2019 and features an automated system that can handle production, packaging, and delivery all at once. The voluntary energy efficiency goal system is a framework created to promote energy savings and management to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and facilitate sustainable development, targeting energy-intensive establishments.
