OTOKI(007310) said on the 9th it will release "Hangang Ramen," a new product that replicates ramen cooked with an instant cooker at Hangang Park in a packet-noodle format, through convenience stores nationwide.
Hangang ramen is cooked directly using a dedicated cooker with ramen purchased at convenience stores and has become one of the representative food cultures of Hangang Park. OTOKI said it reflected in the product concept not only the taste enjoyed at a specific place but also the experience of cooking ramen oneself.
The new product adds an egg block and Cheongyang chili to the noodles to create a spicy broth flavor. It also improved the noodles' resilience and resistance to getting soggy so they do not over-soften in ramen cookers. For the egg topping, it applied a dedicated egg block larger and with a higher egg content than those used in existing products.
The product packaging labels the name "Hangang Ramen" not only in Korean but also in English, Chinese, and Japanese. This is to help foreign consumers unfamiliar with Hangang ramen easily understand the product concept.
An OTOKI official said, "Noting that the experience of cooking and eating ramen directly with a ramen cooker at the Hangang has become a culture, we developed the product so that the fun of Hangang ramen, once limited to a place, can be enjoyed anywhere nationwide."
