Shinsegae Group's real estate developer Shinsegae Property is bringing the world's top-tier luxury hotel brand "Aman" to Seoul. This is the first time Aman will enter Korea.
Shinsegae Property said on the 2nd it will build "Aman Seoul" at 52-3 and 52-7 Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam District, Seoul. The project will span eight basement levels to 38 aboveground floors, with a total floor area of about 70,000 square meters, and will include a hotel, 49 units of branded residences, and retail and cultural spaces. A members-only community called "Aman Club" will also be created, featuring a members' pool, fitness center, and lounge.
Shinsegae Property, as the developer, will oversee planning, strategy, and the overall development, while Aman will participate as a partner in design, architecture, and operations. After completion, Aman will manage the hotel, residences, and community under a long-term entrusted arrangement.
Chung Yong-jin, chairman of Shinsegae Group, led the project. In July, Chung signed an agreement with Vlad Doronin, chairman of Aman Group, to establish a joint venture between Shinsegae Group and OKO Group and to jointly pursue Aman's hospitality development business. "Aman Seoul will go beyond a simple hotel development to set a new milestone for Seoul's high-end lifestyle," Chung said.
Aman is a brand that has selectively carried out only a small number of projects in major cities around the world, including Tokyo, New York, and Bangkok. Developments are also underway in Beverly Hills, Miami Beach, Dubai, and Singapore. Shinsegae Property plans to add Aman's brand value to the execution capabilities it has built through the Starfield mixed-use malls and premium office developments to expand its reach as a "global high-end developer."
