Harim(136480)Group affiliate NS Home Shopping-acquired corporate supermarket (SSM) Homeplus Express said on the 2nd that it will launch a "Grand Open Campaign" ahead of Chuseok's peak shopping season. It comes just over two months after it completed the business transfer on June 22 and set off as a new corporation.
The company said it will revamp shelf displays and signage under three core customer values: "the true taste of freshness," "365 delicious prices," and "the reason for the table." Fresh foods will show origin, variety, and ripeness, and chicken and duck will be supplied to stores the day after production. Premium Korean beef, known as hanwoo, and pork will be kept at below 0 C from aging to sale.
Eleven high-frequency items will be sold at the same price year-round. One bunch of bananas and a medium mesh bag of onions are 2,990 won each, and 300 g of cleaned squid and 800 g of frozen thin-sliced pork belly are 8,990 won each. For near-distance instant delivery, a pilot began on the 1st at four stores to extend the order cutoff by one hour, from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Key indicators are recovering. According to the company, comparing the four weeks just before the acquisition (May 24–June 22) with the most recent four weeks (Aug. 1–28), sales rose 161% and customer count rose 172%. However, compared with the same period in 2024, instant delivery sales were about 80% and rice and mixed grains were at 91%, meaning they have not fully returned to previous years. There are currently 284 stores.
Targeting Chuseok demand, it will also hold a discount event through the 9th. Grade 1 premium Korean beef, known as hanwoo, sirloin will be 50% off, West Sea blue crabs 3 kg will be 29,700 won, and Goheung new-crop rice 10 kg will be 37,900 won.
Homeplus Express CEO Cho Hang-mok said, "By combining NS Home Shopping's merchandise operations capabilities with the food-centered values pursued by Harim Group, we will build a near-distance grocery platform."
