Hyundai Department Store(069960) said on the 30th it will reopen the 10th floor of the Gangnam Trade Center branch in Seoul after renovating it into a dining and lifestyle space. With the concept "Everything in the city you dream of (The WORLD is YOURS)," it plans to grow it into a new culinary destination in the Gangnam commercial district.
At the center of the 10th floor, a 813㎡ (about 246 pyeong) rest area called "EP.1" will be created. The space is designed with aurora-inspired lighting and plantings reminiscent of an urban forest, and also features a dedicated signature scent in spicy, floral, and musk notes. On the 11th floor, which is connected to EP.1, a sky garden called "NOVAS PARK" has been built. It will operate from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. in line with the 10th-floor dining store hours.
It also brought in a slew of culinary brands. The Italian "grocery-restaurant" (a portmanteau of grocery and restaurant) EATALY will open its first Gangnam store, covering 690㎡ (about 209 pyeong). Following the Pangyo branch and The Hyundai Seoul, it will serve wood-fired pizza baked in a Josper charcoal oven from Spain and aged steaks.
Hyundai Department Store's in-house cafe brand Till White will open as an all-day brunch venue in collaboration with Chef Yoo Ki-young of "Ppomo." Also joining are "Nishimura-men," a ramen shop by a Michelin one-star chef from Fukuoka; "js Garden Sanghwa," a premium Chinese bistro; and "Bando Katsu," a tonkatsu specialist from Haeundae, Busan.
Lee Seung-won, head of the Gangnam Trade Center branch at Hyundai Department Store (executive vice president), said it "will establish itself as an urban luxury lifestyle space where you can go beyond shopping to enjoy, experience, and find inspiration."
