GS Retail(007070)'s convenience store GS25 said on the 26th it will expand its Next-day Parcel service areas nationwide.
Starting on the 24th, GS25 expanded Next-day Parcel drop-off locations to about 9,500 stores in the greater Seoul area, more than tripling the previous number. The delivery area also widened from the greater Seoul area to nationwide, excluding Jeju and remote islands and mountains.
Next-day Parcel delivers items received by 5 p.m. on weekdays and by 12 p.m. on Saturdays the following day. Since it was introduced in December last year, usage in July this year increased about 400% compared with the initial launch.
Eligible parcels are items with a combined length of three sides within 160 cm and weighing 20 kg or less. Based on the same zone, the price varies by weight from 3,500 won for 350 g or less to 9,100 won for 20 kg or less.
To mark the service expansion, GS25 is offering a 500 won discount for Next-day Parcel users through the 31st. With the discount applied, the minimum price is 3,000 won.
In addition to Next-day Parcel, GS25 also operates Half-price Parcel, Pickup Parcel, and International Parcel. The average monthly usage of Half-price Parcel, in which a parcel is dropped off at one store and picked up at another, is 1 million cases.
For Pickup Parcel, customers enter sender and recipient information and their preferred pickup date on the GS Postbox website or the GS25 Convenience Store Parcel application (app), and a courier visits the origin to collect the item.
Lee Gyeong-han, a merchandising manager on the service products team at GS Retail, said, "We expanded the Next-day Parcel service area nationwide for customers who want fast delivery," and added, "We will refine the service process and improve satisfaction for niche demand."
