Dongsuh Foods is expanding its low-sugar cereal lineup by rolling out a new granola product without added sugars.
On the 26th, according to Dongsuh Foods, the company launched "Post Granola Zero Sugar Farro Whole Barley" at the end of July. It uses natural sweeteners stevia and allulose to cut sugar content to under 0.5g per 100g, making it a zero-sugar product. Ancient grain farro is combined with buckwheat and whole barley, and it contains 21g of protein and 5g of dietary fiber per 100g. The company said that is equivalent to 3.5 boiled eggs and two bananas.
In Nov. last year, Dongsuh Foods unveiled "Post Granola Apricot Almond" and "Pecan," which reduced sugar content using stevia, and in Apr. this year it released "Post Granola Low Sugar Lentil Oat." Low Sugar Lentil Oat adds black soybeans and white soybeans to oats, whole barley, and lentils, and contains 11g of protein and 9g of dietary fiber per 100g.
As demand for health management grows, cereals that lower sugar content and highlight protein and dietary fiber are arriving one after another. Since launching Korea's first cereal containing granola in 2008, Dongsuh Foods has secured about a 40% share of the domestic granola market with "Post Granola." In 2016, it also rolled out the premium brand "Post Golden Granola."
A Dongsuh Foods official said, "More consumers are looking for convenient meals that reduce the sugar burden while taking into account nutrients such as protein and dietary fiber," adding, "We plan to continue introducing cereal products tailored to a healthy lifestyle."
