Sangmidang Holdings Happy Foundation said on the 21st it will provide emergency relief supplies, including bread and bottled water, to Geoje in South Gyeongsang Province, which was hit by heavy downpours.
Sangmidang Holdings will work with the Korean Red Cross on the same day to deliver a total of 2,000 relief items—1,000 pieces of bread and 1,000 bottles of water—to the Dundeok-myeon community office in Geoje. The delivered supplies will be used for local residents displaced by the heavy rain and personnel engaged in recovery efforts.
A Sangmidang Holdings Happy Foundation official said, "We hope this support will provide at least some help to residents affected by the sudden downpours and to personnel at recovery sites," adding, "We will continue to provide support where it is needed so the affected areas can return to normal as soon as possible."
Sangmidang Holdings said it has been working with the Korean Red Cross to provide emergency relief supplies and donations when national disasters and calamities occur.
On the 11th, it provided a total of 25,500 bottles of water to five regions—Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon, Gangwon, and North Gyeongsang—in response to the heat wave. In July and August last year, it also provided a total of 28,000 relief items, including bread and bottled water, to the Chungcheong, Honam, South Gyeongsang, and Jeolla regions that suffered flood damage.
