E-MART(139480) said on the 17th it will sell five "Chinese cuisine 3980" items at the deli counter through the end of this month.
The items are ganpoong chicken, yusanseul, nanzawanseu, mala xiangguo, and mapo tofu & potato. The price is 3,980 won for all. The company turned comparatively complex-to-prepare Chinese dishes into ultra-low-price deli items.
E-MART worked with the manufacturer Shinsegae Food from the product planning stage to design the menu lineup and production processes together, improving manufacturing efficiency. It also cut costs by sharing some materials and supplies with existing Chinese cuisine items on sale.
Since 2024, E-MART and Shinsegae Food have been running 9,980-won Chinese deli items such as "yangjangpi WITH Lee Kum Kee" and "palbochae WITH Lee Kum Kee." The company said it boosted purchasing and production efficiency by using some of the same materials and supplies—such as mushrooms, shrimp, and bamboo shoots—from existing products in the new 3,980-won items.
The flagship ganpoong chicken uses domestic chicken tenderloin with a special ganpoong sauce. Yusanseul uses domestic pork with bamboo shoots and shiitake mushrooms, and nanzawanseu also uses domestic pork meatballs.
The lineup also includes mala dishes, which have remained popular recently. Mala xiangguo delivers its characteristic numbing taste with Sichuan peppercorns and chili oil, and mapo tofu & potato combines mapo tofu with mashed potatoes.
The new products extend E-MART's ultra-low-price deli strategy rolled out this year. E-MART released the "twist-price two-roll gimbap" for 3,980 won in Mar., followed by the "twist-price bulgogi sandwich" for 5,980 won in May.
Lee Seul, a kitchen deli buyer at E-MART, said, "We developed products by carefully selecting signature menu items so people can enjoy a variety of Chinese dishes at home without burden," adding, "We plan to keep expanding differentiated deli products so customers can experience a variety of restaurant-style menus at reasonable prices."
