Among owner families in the retail industry in the first half, Shin Dong-bin, chairman of Lotte Group, received the highest compensation. Shin received 11.227 billion won from Lotte Corporation(004990) and Lotte Shopping(023530), among others.
Based on half-year reports submitted by major retail groups on the 14th, Shin received 11.227 billion won in first-half compensation from six affiliates with disclosed filings. He received 3.33 billion won from Lotte Shopping, 3.257 billion won from Lotte Corporation, and 1.626 billion won from Hotel Lotte. Lotte Wellfood 1.151 billion won, Lotte Chemical 1.087 billion won, and Lotte Property & Development 776 million won, in that order.
Next was Lee Jay-hyun, chairman of CJ Group, who received 9.304 billion won, the second highest. In the first half, 7.345 billion won from CJ(001040) and 1.959 billion won from CJ CheilJedang(097950). The 4.994 billion won bonus from CJ was the final installment of a long-term incentive calculated based on performance over 2021–2023. At CJ CheilJedang, the base salary was 3.918 billion won, the same as last year, and there was no bonus for the second year.
Chung Ji-sun, chairman of Hyundai Department Store Group, received 2.573 billion won. 1.948 billion won from Hyundai Department Store(069960) and 625 million won from Hyundai G.F Holdings(005440). Younger sibling Chung Gyo-sun, vice chairman, received 2.177 billion won, including 952 million won from Hyundai Home Shopping, 702 million won from Hyundai Department Store, and 523 million won from Hyundai G.F Holdings.
At Shinsegae Group, Chairman Chung Yong-jin and Chairwoman Chung Yoo-kyung each received the same amount, 2.205 billion won. Chung Yong-jin received it from E-MART(139480), and Chung Yoo-kyung received it from Shinsegae(004170). The amounts by item also matched, with 1.205 billion won in salary and 1 billion won in bonus. The two chairs also each received 2.021 billion won in the first half of last year. General Chair Lee Myung-hee and Honorary Chair Chung Jae-eun each received 1.516 billion won, including 955 million won from E-MART and 561 million won from Shinsegae, respectively.
Kim Dong-Sun, president overseeing future strategy at the newly established holding company Hanwha Machinery & Service Holdings (Hanwha M&S), which launched on the 1st, received 1.267 billion won from Hanwha Galleria(452260). Of that, 818 million won was retirement income. Kim stepped down from Hanwha Galleria on Mar. 31 in line with the group spin-off. Excluding retirement-related amounts, salary was 246 million won. Lee Boo-jin, president of Hotel Shilla(008770), received 799 million won, including 683 million won in salary and 114 million won in bonus.
