Oasis Market said on the 13th that its second-quarter results came in at 137.1 billion won in revenue and 7 billion won in operating profit. Revenue fell 8% from a year earlier, but operating profit rose 95.5%.
The company said its management strategy prioritizing profitability over scale expansion led to improved results. It avoided aggressive discount marketing or sales expansion that accepts losses, and focused on increasing the share of sales from private label (PB) and products with strong competitiveness.
Cost improvements through expanded direct sourcing also lifted profitability. The second-quarter cost of goods sold ratio was 67%, down about 3.5 percentage points from a year earlier. By using its in-house logistics solution "Oasis Route" to automate inventory management and streamline logistics routes, it also reduced variable costs. Selling, general and administrative expenses fell 5.1% from the same period last year.
Efforts to link profitability improvement with expanded customer benefits are also continuing. Oasis Market launched its membership service "Club Oasis" at the end of June, promoting a net subscription fee of 0 won. By strengthening purchase rewards, it aims to reduce customers' actual shopping burden and encourage repeat purchases.
Oasis Market is also accelerating the upgrade of its offline stores. It is sequentially introducing the artificial intelligence (AI) unmanned checkout "Route" at all stores and is currently operating it at seven locations. The company said it has confirmed effects such as shorter customer wait times and greater store operating efficiency.
