Homeplus Co. will reopen 67 stores that went into temporary closure last month on the 13th.
Homeplus Co. on the 12th said, "The 67 stores subject to reopening went into a soft opening for final operational checks on the 7th," and added, "After completing inspections and fixes, we will fully resume normal operations on the 13th." Of the 67 stores, 59 will also resume online delivery at the time of reopening. Eight stores, including Asiad, Nam-Daegu, Samcheok, Boryung, Ochang, Songtan, Gangneung, and Guwol, will not offer online delivery.
By region, Seoul has the most with 11 locations: Gangdong, Gangseo, Geumcheon, Banghak, Namhyeon, Sangbong, Sindorim, Yeongdeungpo, Wolgok, World Cup, and Hapjeong. Gyeonggi has 16, Busan, Ulsan, South Gyeongsang, and North Gyeongsang have 12, Daejeon, Sejong, South Chungcheong, and North Chungcheong have 8, Gwangju, South Jeolla, and North Jeolla have 6, Incheon has 5, Daegu has 4, Gangwon has 4, and Jeju has 1.
Homeplus Co. has also prepared large-scale promotions to bring back customers who left. For My Homeplus members, from the 13th, the reopening day, for four days, all cuts of premium Korean beef, known as hanwoo, will be discounted up to 50%. For three days from the 14th, the private-label "Dangdang Fried Chicken" will be offered at 3,490 won, a 50% cut. Purchases are limited to one chicken per person, and the Boryung and Seogwipo stores and online channels are excluded. Handon Ilpum Pork samgyeopsal and shoulder butt will be sold at 1,980 won per 100g after a 40% discount. In addition, depending on the period, popular foods such as meat, seafood, fruit, snacks, beverages, deli items, and bakery goods will be discounted up to 50% or offered as 1+1. The reopening promotions will continue through the end of the month, excluding store closure days.
A Homeplus Co. official said, "Please use Homeplus, a basic facility for people's daily lives, so it can stand back up," and noted, "We will repay customers by offering good-quality products at low prices."
