Starbucks Korea said on the 4th that it developed and delivered the eighth co-prosperity beverage, "Sangju Shine Muscat Ade," to help small-business cafés strengthen competitiveness and boost sales.
At the co-prosperity beverage handover ceremony held at the Starbucks Support Center on the 3rd, officials from the Korea Commission for Corporate Partnership and the National Café Owners Cooperative attended.
In Mar. 2022, Starbucks signed a "café industry co-prosperity agreement" with the Korea Commission for Corporate Partnership and the National Café Owners Cooperative and has continued co-prosperity activities, including: ▲ developing and delivering co-prosperity beverages using local agricultural products ▲ supporting recovery from natural disaster damage ▲ improving aging café environments. Starbucks said the co-prosperity fund provided over five years amounts to about 1 billion won.
Co-prosperity beverages have been developed using specialties from regions across the country, starting with the first "Hallamungyeong Sweetie," followed by "Real Gongju Chestnut Latte," "Okcheon Kabocha Latte," and "Yuzu Plum Ade."
The eighth co-prosperity beverage was selected as "Sangju Shine Muscat Ade," using Shine Muscat grapes from the Sangju area of North Gyeongsang. The Starbucks beverage team developed it with seasonality and broad appeal in mind. The drink's name incorporates both the region and its specialty, adding the meaning of co-prosperity not only with small-business cafés but also with local farms.
Starbucks will provide the recipe and the raw and subsidiary ingredients for a total of 60,000 cups of the co-prosperity beverage free of charge to 150 selected small-business cafés. The co-prosperity beverage will go on sale starting in Sep., and details on participating stores and the specific release schedule will be provided later through the Korea Commission for Corporate Partnership's KakaoTalk channel and the Starbucks website and mobile app.
Alongside this, as part of its co-prosperity activities, Starbucks also delivered a 30 million won facility repair support fund to improve environments at small-business cafés. The fund will be used to improve store environments at small-business cafés that need facility repairs due to aging or flood damage.
A Starbucks official said, "We are grateful to realize the value of growing together with small-business cafés through various co-prosperity activities," and noted, "We will continue to provide support that offers practical help to small-business cafés based on Starbucks' expertise."
