Paradise City, an art-tainment integrated resort, said on the 31st it will roll out an indoor performance project, "Paradise Odyssey 2.0," in stages after a full overhaul of its standing performance content set across the hotel, theme park, and indoor plaza.
The overhaul, ahead of the resort's 10th anniversary next year, goes beyond swapping out existing shows, embedding the distinct characteristics of key spaces—such as the hotel, Wonderbox, and the Plaza—into music, media, and live performances.
Each performance applies a different concept and worldview. The viewing route is designed like a single journey so customers can move through the resort and experience each show in sequence.
The shows are free at the hotel lobby "Wow Zone," the indoor theme park "Wonderbox," and the large indoor plaza "Plaza" through Mar. 1 next year. There are no performances on Tuesdays.
At the hotel lobby Wow Zone, starting today, it will stage the signature masquerade "Masquerella: The Prizm Gala." Centered on Yayoi Kusama's signature work "Great Gigantic Pumpkin," which symbolizes Paradise City, the lobby has been fashioned into the mysterious "PRIZM Hall" with fog effects, a kinetic prism clock, and light-scattering direction.
When the performance begins, actors hand out masquerade invitations to the audience. Immersive elements were strengthened so customers do not remain mere spectators but can join as protagonists of the ball.
At the indoor theme park Wonderbox, the aerial art circus "Comet Strike: The Aurora Festival" runs daily at 12:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
With the confrontation and integration of light and darkness as its theme, it combines aerial and circus artists' aerial performances with media art. Using a large media backdrop, an LED moon altar, and kinetic flowers, it creates a fantasy space that lowers the boundary between stage and seats.
At the large indoor plaza, the live awards show "Lucky Paradise Pictures" opens on the 15th of next month. Leveraging the Plaza's symbolism as the venue for the Blue Dragon Film Awards and the Baeksang Arts Awards, the stage evokes a Hollywood red-carpet awards ceremony.
During the show, videos using slot machine reels and roulette on a large media screen blend in real time with the actors' performances. The plan is to convey Paradise City's "Happy Memories" message through an experience where the audience becomes the lucky protagonist.
A Paradise City official said, "Paradise Odyssey 2.0 is a project designed to expand the resort space's unique symbolism and story into performances so customers can experience the space itself in a new way," adding, "We will continue to provide special experiences through Paradise City's differentiated art-tainment content."
