Dongwon F&B said on the 29th it has launched three new frozen pot rice products, "Yangban Bibimdeubap Pot Rice," which capture a char-grilled flavor with 400°C direct fire.
"Yangban Bibimdeubap Pot Rice" is produced at Jincheon Plant No. 2 in Jincheon, North Chungcheong, which Dongwon F&B recently completed. Dongwon F&B said Jincheon Plant No. 2 applied a direct-fire facility, introduced for the first time in Korea, to maximize the char-grilled flavor.
Dongwon F&B said it cooks the rice with a secret broth infused with kelp and radish using 100% domestic rice, delivering a savory taste different from rice cooked only with water. After the rice is cooked, it is stir-fried in a wok that rotates 360 degrees.
A Dongwon F&B HMR (home meal replacement) researcher in charge of product development said, "To solve the chronic limitation of frozen rice—'clumping texture'—we adopted a 360-degree rotating wok method that modernizes the traditional gamasot (iron cauldron) cooking technique," adding, "We also applied 400°C direct fire, the core technology of Jincheon Plant No. 2, to deliver a deep, freshly stir-fried char-grilled flavor."
The new lineup consists of three varieties tailored to consumer preferences: "Octopus and hijiki pot rice," "Ssamjang pork and bracken pot rice," and "Garlic butter steak pot rice."
"Octopus and hijiki pot rice" features octopus and hijiki for a chewy texture and a briny sea aroma.
"Ssamjang pork and bracken pot rice" is a Korean-style pot rice with pork imbued with a smoky aroma, bracken, and ssamjang for umami depth. "Garlic butter steak pot rice" is finished by adding butter notes and garlic flavor to beef.
Dongwon F&B said "Yangban Bibimdeubap Pot Rice" also offers convenient storage and cooking. Each serving is individually packaged so consumers can take out only what they need, and it is ready after 3 minutes in a microwave without separate thawing. When using a frying pan, it can be stir-fried cleanly without adding cooking oil.
Based on the advanced production facilities at Jincheon Plant No. 2, including the direct-fire equipment, Dongwon F&B plans to continue expanding its HMR lineup such as rice balls. The three "Yangban Bibimdeubap Pot Rice" products are sold at major hypermarkets, discount stores, and leading online malls nationwide.
