Donga Otsuka said on the 28th that it released a 500ml label-free Pocari Sweat that reduces plastic use by removing the label and improves convenience for sorting for recycling.
Donga Otsuka first applied label-free packaging to its 340ml product in 2024 and expanded the label-free lineup to the 500ml product.
Donga Otsuka noted that the introduction of the 500ml label-free product can reduce plastic use by about 900kg per 1 million bottles produced.
Pocari Sweat has also continued various activities for resource circulation. It applied tear lines to PET bottle labels to make label removal easier and introduced the "Blue Label Campaign with Pocari Sweat" to spread a proper culture of sorting for recycling.
Chief Executive Park Cheol-ho of Donga Otsuka said, "The launch of the label-free Pocari Sweat is part of our efforts to improve consumers' convenience in sorting for recycling and to spread everyday practices for resource circulation," adding, "We will continue various environment-minded efforts so that we can build a sustainable consumption culture."
The 500ml label-free Pocari Sweat is sold online and will expand to multiple channels.
