Aerochano, an iced Americano that Starbucks Korea introduced in Korea as a world first, surpassed 5.5 million cumulative cups sold five months after its launch.
On the 26th, Starbucks Korea said that Aerochano, launched on Feb. 26, surpassed 5.5 million cumulative cups sold. Within a week of launch, 1 million cups were sold, setting the record for the fastest 1 million sales among iced beverages introduced by Starbucks in Korea.
Aerochano is an iced-only beverage that applies aerating technology to inject air into an Americano, creating creamy foam and a smooth finish. It was planned to target Korea's unique "eoljuk-a (iced even if freezing to death)" culture of seeking iced coffee regardless of the season.
Aerochano, whose potential for success was verified in Korea, is currently expanding its sales territory to Asian countries such as India, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam. In Korea, on the 9th, Starbucks additionally launched Grapefruit Honey Aerochano, a new product that incorporates the flavor of the steady-seller tea beverage "Grapefruit Honey Black Tea."
