Tous Les Jours, operated by CJ Foodville, said it will raise prices on some products, including bread and cakes, starting on the 31st.
According to CJ Foodville on the 24th, the suggested retail prices of a total of 76 items, including "Daily Milk Bread" (up 200 won) and "Tujumam Egg Toast" (up 300 won), will increase by an average of 8.2%.
The price hike comes as prices of various international raw and subsidiary materials have surged due to changes in domestic and global conditions—covering eggs, wheat, raw sugar, and palm oil, as well as packaging materials such as naphtha—while the exchange rate and oil prices have also risen, pushing up overall expenses and sustaining cost pressures. CJ Foodville said it adjusted prices only for certain items with significant cost increases.
A CJ Foodville official said, "We have worked to minimize price increases, but unavoidably adjusted supply prices and suggested retail prices for some products," adding, "In consideration of consumer burden, we excluded popular items such as 'Anpan,' 'Soboro Bread,' and 'Castella' from this round of price adjustments to help stabilize perceived prices."
