Coupang Fulfillment Services (CFS) said on the 24th that it will implement a comprehensive relief plan to help local residents whose daily lives were disrupted by the fire at the Seoknam-dong logistics center in Incheon.
From the 25th to Aug. 7, CFS will set up an "emergency medical support center" at Sinhyeon Elementary School near the fire site and provide free health checkups for local residents.
Medical professionals, including doctors and nurses, pharmacists, and psychological counselors from the Korean Central Medical Volunteer Association, will participate to provide respiratory examinations, basic health tests, psychological counseling, and on-site treatment. Residents who visited hospitals or purchased medicines because of the fire will also receive support for medical fees and drug costs.
Starting on the 27th, a dedicated call center for fire damage assistance will accept applications for various types of relief, including hospital medical fees and drug costs, as well as cleaning fees and car wash fees. Professional loss adjuster services to verify reported damage will also be provided in sequence.
Support is also being promoted for nearby factories and small business owners whose operations have been disrupted by traffic control. Earlier, CFS delivered 13,500 masks to a nearby elementary school and provided 400 sets of relief supplies to residents at temporary shelters. It also dispatched nurses and operated a hospital shuttle bus.
Chief Executive Jeong Jong-cheol of CFS said, "We have prepared a range of recovery measures, including health checkups and expense support, to help restore residents' health and daily lives, and we will continue to provide the necessary support so the local community can regain stability as soon as possible."
