COSMAX(192820) Group said on the 22nd that its pet health and beauty ODM (research, development, production) subsidiary, COSMAX Pet, has set up a new production base in Jeungpyeong, North Chungcheong, and begun full-scale operations.
COSMAX Pet was founded in May 2022. It provides integrated ODM and OEM services that support everything from product planning, ingredient proposals, formulation development, production, and quality control to package design and marketing solutions.
COSMAX Pet signed a new investment agreement with Jeungpyeong County in Oct. last year to transfer its existing Goesan plant in North Chungcheong to Jeungpyeong. It then invested 40 billion won to build a new plant in the Jeungpyeong 2 General Industrial Complex.
The new plant is a specialized production base focused on making nutritional supplements and functional products in treat form for companion animals. The production space is more than four times larger than the existing Goesan plant. As a result, the company secured a foundation to respond flexibly to requests for various formulations and product manufacturing.
COSMAX Pet plans to use the plant transfer as an opportunity to strengthen product competitiveness. The Jeungpyeong plant inherited the production system for core formulations whose quality and marketability were verified at the existing plant. At the same time, it introduced new equipment and systems to boost production efficiency and quality stability.
For the powder production line, the company newly established a manufacturing environment management system at a GMP level used for human products. It is characterized by a design that enables stricter control across the entire manufacturing process.
The range of producible product forms has also expanded. In addition to existing capsules, pellets, tablets, and liquid-solid products, the company expanded new formulation facilities such as yokan-type, squeeze gel, and liquid drops, which have seen rising market demand recently. Through this, it strengthened the capability to propose customized formulations to client companies according to companion animals' age and preferences, feeding convenience, and product function.
Proprietary materials are also being highlighted as a competitive edge. COSMAX Pet is expanding functional product development by using about 30 exclusive clinical materials for companion animals. In pet cosmetics, it also holds patented materials that can be used for skin and coat care.
