At 5 p.m. on the 27th at Inspire Arena Resort on Yeongjongdo, Incheon. A long line had formed to enter entertainment agency JYP's band Xdinary Heroes' solo concert. Lee Byung-gwan, 51, who came here to drop off teenage children and their friends for the concert, said, "Until midnight when the concert ends, my spouse and I plan to hop between the restaurant district and cafes to stay cool and have fun."
As the summer vacation season gets into full swing, large resort hotels are rolling out a variety of attractions. The aim is to maximize revenue by extending the time customers stay. Industry officials say that longer stays often lead to package-style lodging reservations.
According to the retail industry on the 11th, Inspire Arena Resort has recently been offering one day of free parking to consumers who spend 40,000 won or more at its restaurants and auxiliary facilities. Although it is a resort hotel, it is not filled only with high-priced shops and restaurants. Starbucks, Olive Young, and mid-priced eateries have moved in, so visitors can enjoy the resort all day without excessive expenditure.
Because parking is inexpensive, so-called "frugal all-day cooling-off tips" for enjoying Inspire Resort while spending as little money as possible are circulating on internet communities. The idea is for adults to watch free performances at the "Aurora Night Market" while enjoying nonalcoholic beer or wine and snacks like pajeon and sundae, and for children to spend time at the arcade or a slime cafe. The Aurora Night Market is a K-food night market held from 8 p.m. to midnight on the resort's media art street. Visitors can taste representative Korean street foods.
Inspire Resort believes that extending customers' stay often leads to lodging use, and has introduced packages of two nights or more for families to spend vacations together. The two-night lodging package includes a four-hour pool pass to keep things from getting dull. An Inspire Resort official said, "Many consumers who have tried this complex cultural space—where they can enjoy fun, relaxation, and shopping all at once—multiple times end up extending that to resort stays."
While Inspire Resort is targeting family vacationers, Paradise City Incheon has rolled out summer content for young consumers in their 20s and 30s. The signature event is the "2026 Cimer Summer Festa," which links the pool with the club. It is a joint event with the spa facility Cimer and the club Chroma.
The Summer Festa is held every Saturday from 3 to 9 p.m. at the outdoor pool through the 29th. From 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. the next day, an after-party continues at the club. It is an event where you can stay cool and have fun for 24 hours. During the event period, a shuttle bus will also run between Apgujeong Rodeo Station in Seoul and Paradise City.
Room packages linked to the event have also been prepared. Some consumers may come only for the party, but the expectation is that their spending journey will ultimately continue with linked lodging packages. A Paradise City official said, "Since 2022, the pool party event has sold out every year and established itself as a signature summer program," adding, "We will introduce differentiated programs that capture both relaxation and fun."
