Dongwon F&B said on the 30th it released three new frozen pot rice home meal replacement (HMR) products, "Yangban bibim deopbap pot rice."
"Yangban bibim deopbap pot rice" uses domestically produced rice. It can be cooked by microwaving for 3 minutes without separate thawing or by simply stir-frying in a pan without oil.
The three "Yangban bibim deopbap pot rice" varieties are "octopus and hijiki pot rice," "ssamjang pork and bracken pot rice," and "garlic butter steak pot rice."
"Yangban bibim deopbap pot rice" is produced at Jincheon Plant No. 2 in Jincheon, North Chungcheong Province, which Dongwon F&B recently completed. Dongwon F&B said Jincheon Plant No. 2 applied a direct-fire system, introduced for the first time in Korea, to maximize smoky flavor. Including the direct-fire system, the company plans to continuously expand its HMR lineup such as rice balls through various advanced facilities.
A Dongwon F&B official said, "We designed a product that allows consumers to enjoy a smoky flavor and texture like at a professional restaurant while cooking with ease," adding, "We will continue to introduce differentiated HMR products that deliver both taste and convenience."
Dongwon F&B is expanding its HMR lineup by fully overhauling its HMR-focused online mall "The Banchan&" and operating "Yangban," a Korean HMR brand. The company also said it is diversifying its HMR menu lab into three categories and developing new recipes.
