CJ Freshway said on the 25th that since the launch of its R&D (research and development) center, sales related to new products have increased an average of 3.5 times a year.
According to CJ Freshway, about 800 new products have been introduced over roughly three years since the launch of the R&D center in Jun. 2023.
The CJ Freshway R&D center is a research and development organization that integrates product development, menu planning, and manufacturing R&D specialists. CJ Freshway said it turns brand recipes into products that can be easily cooked in stores and designs flavors and cooking methods suited to new menu concepts.
In the dining-out field, it develops dedicated sauces for each franchise brand. It reflects the characteristics of clients' recipes and flavors in products to streamline cooking processes and helps maintain consistent taste and quality across stores nationwide.
The R&D center develops more than 1,000 dining-out sauce recipes every year and manages ingredients and blending ratios, evaluations of taste, aroma, and texture, client requirements, and more as databases.
In the institutional sector, it is also working in parallel on developing cooking-efficiency products that reduce the burden of large-scale cooking while keeping menu quality consistent.
This year, it created a new "Culinary Science team" to strengthen on-site verification functions. Based on accumulated data, it verifies whether product taste and quality are implemented stably in actual dining-out and institutional sites.
A CJ Freshway official said, "The core competency of the R&D center is turning a brand's unique taste into products. Through this, we support the standardization of menu quality at stores and the development of new menu items."
CJ Freshway is accelerating the expansion of its B2B (business-to-business) solution business by leveraging the R&D center. Earlier, CJ Freshway said it would also move in earnest to shift to a platform-based distribution structure and expand its online business.
