Korea's department store industry is launching regular discount events ahead of the peak summer vacation season. With heat wave advisories issued earlier than usual and more consumers seeking summer apparel, bedding, and leisure goods, major department stores are moving to capture summer demand with sales, pop-up stores, and exhibition content.
According to the industry on the 24th, Lotte Department Store will hold the "2026 summer regular sale" at stores nationwide from the 26th to July 12. About 400 brands across all categories, including fashion, sports, and living, will take part, offering discounts of up to 40%.
In the fashion institutional sector, luxury brands such as Thom Browne and Jacquemus and K-fashion brands such as LOEUVRE and Setter will offer spring/summer new arrivals at discounts of up to 40%. Swimwear from Nike Swim and Arena will also be up to 20% off.
Events targeting demand during the rainy season are also prepared. Lotte Department Store will run a limited-edition "Beanpole X Hunter" collaborative rainwear pop-up at Lotte World Mall in Jamsil.
In the living category, the "cooling bedding festival" will feature participants including Allerman and Sesa. Functional summer bedding will be offered at discounts of up to 60%, and customers who purchase during the sale period will receive Lotte gift certificates worth up to 15% of the purchase amount by category.
Shinsegae Department Store will also hold its regular "only SHINSEGAE SALE" at 13 stores nationwide from the 26th to July 12.
About 360 brands will join across key categories, including women's and men's fashion, streetwear, sports, children, living/bedding, kitchen/dining, and accessories. Discounts range from 10% to as much as 50%.
Store-by-store pop-up events will also run. At the open stage on the first floor of the Gangnam store of Shinsegae Department Store, a pop-up store that reinterprets traditional Korean culture in a modern way will operate through July 2. Along with goods reflecting traditional patterns, Hangeul, and Korean lifestyle, a variety of Disney character products will also be showcased.
On the fourth floor of Centum City in Busan, a pop-up store for the brand "Dainit" will open from July 2. On-site, customers will receive price discounts and gifts such as T-shirts and jelly bags according to purchase tiers. At South City, to mark the summer season, Keen and OOFOS products will be sold at 10% off at the fourth-floor pop-up store through Aug. 23.
Hyundai Department Store will also run its summer discount event "The Sale" at department stores nationwide, including the Apgujeong main store, during the same period. A total of about 290 brands across fashion, accessories, and sports will offer summer new arrivals and end-of-season items at 10%–50% off the original selling price.
Large-scale events by store will continue. At the Trade Center store, an "SS (spring/summer) pleats special" will be held at the basement first-floor event hall from the 29th to July 2, offering up to 50% off SS season women's apparel from the original selling price.
At the Sinchon store, a "summer living refresh" event will run at the basement first-floor event hall from July 3 to 9. Sofas, summer bedding, and kitchenware will be gathered in one place and offered at up to 50% off. At the Mia store, from the 26th to 28th, a "summer leisure sports special" will be held at the basement first-floor event hall, showcasing outdoor products at up to 50% off the original selling price.
