Shinsegae Department Store said on the 18th it will host live broadcasts of the national soccer team and a large-scale cheering event at the main store's Shinsegae Square to wish the team success.
Shinsegae Department Store will air live the match against Mexico on the 19th and against South Africa on the 25th on the giant screen at the main store's Shinsegae Square, in time with kickoff. On site, it will also set up a cheering area and interactive events for visitors, creating a plaza where citizens and tourists can enjoy the games together.
Shinsegae Square is an extra-large media facade measuring 1,300㎡ installed on the outer wall of the Shinsegae Department Store main store. It is a space unveiled when the main store exterior was newly refreshed in Nov. 2024, and serves as an urban media platform that transmits video content using the entire building facade. Showcasing music videos by world-renowned K-pop artists, seasonal media art, and brand campaign videos, it has established itself as a landmark that draws domestic and international tourists to Myeong-dong.
Shinsegae Department Store will also run customer participation events linked to the game viewing. Customers who take part in the Shinsegae Department Store app event will receive a 5,000 won F&B discount coupon usable after the match ends. Through an on-site roulette event, it will also give out an Adidas premium match ball, dessert vouchers, a 50,000 won discount coupon for the fashion category, and a 15,000 won discount coupon for the cosmetics category.
Shinsegae Department Store will also work to ensure on-site safety management. In cooperation with relevant agencies, it will deploy safety personnel and run viewing areas and traffic flow systematically to create an environment where customers can enjoy the cheering event with peace of mind.
Lee Sung-hwan, executive director in charge of business strategy at Shinsegae Department Store, said, "As Shinsegae Square is a well-known venue for introducing K-content, we planned live broadcasts of the matches against Mexico and South Africa so domestic and international customers can gather to cheer on the national team," adding, "We will continue to expand differentiated content that spans sports, culture, art and entertainment, and carry on our role as a global cultural and tourism destination sought by people around the world."
