GS Shop, the home shopping channel run by GS Retail, and the GS The Fresh supermarket said on the 15th they will jointly sell the airtight container "Airclip Fresh," planned by GS Shop, through data home shopping and offline supermarkets.
GS Shop will air the Airclip Fresh launch broadcast at 4:38 p.m. on the 16th on its data home shopping channel "GS My Shop." At the same time, it will place product samples at GS The Fresh stores nationwide through the end of this month. Customers can check the product in-store and then purchase it via the mobile app "Our Neighborhood GS."
At five GS The Fresh stores—Gimpo Sau, Bupyeong Sangok, Suwon Mangu, Yongin, and Wonju Innovation—it will run pop-up stores and conduct on-site sales.
A GS Retail official said, "This case is significant as a channel synergy, as it is the first time since the 2021 merger of GS Retail and GS Home Shopping that the same product is being jointly sold."
GS Shop and GS The Fresh moved to collaborate on products because they have similar customer profiles. Both channels have a high proportion of women in their 40s to 60s, leading to the judgment that kitchen and household goods that perform well in home shopping can be effectively introduced to supermarket customers.
The two sides have pursued joint marketing since early this year based on the integrated membership "GS ALL," confirming synergy between channels. From the 1st to the 15th of every month, customers who make a purchase of 10,000 won or more with GS Pay at GS Shop and GS The Fresh, respectively, and participate in the event receive 5,000 points.
In the first quarter of this year, the monthly average payment amount of customers participating in the event rose 29.0%, and the average order value increased 4.8% from before. GS Retail expanded the scope of collaboration to product planning and sales based on the results of such joint marketing.
Airclip Fresh is an airtight container jointly developed by GS Shop and the kitchenware-focused small and medium enterprise Easy&Free. Earlier, GS Shop introduced "Singsing Fresh," a storage container targeting salad and meal-prep demand, with Easy&Free, and sold 190,000 units within 10 months of its launch.
Starting with Airclip Fresh, GS Retail plans to expand product collaboration between GS Shop and GS The Fresh. It will leverage its strength of operating diverse online and offline distribution channels—convenience stores, home shopping, supermarkets, and mobile apps—to broaden sales outlets according to product characteristics.
Kim Eun-jung, head of digital product business at GS Retail, said, "GS Shop and GS The Fresh have similar core customer bases, so there is significant opportunity for product collaboration," adding, "We will continue to develop competitive exclusive products with outstanding small and medium partners and introduce them to more customers by utilizing GS Retail's diverse channels, while also expanding growth opportunities for our partners."
