Daesang said on the 11th that it will join the "K-food smart manufacturing alliance," a public-private partnership to drive manufacturing innovation in the K-food industry and strengthen global competitiveness.
The "K-food smart manufacturing alliance" is a public-private partnership led by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups to promote AI-based smart manufacturing (AX) transformation, strengthen the cooperative ecosystem across the food manufacturing sector, and boost the global competitiveness of K-food. Fifteen representative K-food corporations, including Daesang, CJ CheilJedang, Nongshim Taekyung, Maeil Dairies, and Paldo Co., are joining, and government and related bodies such as the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the Ministery of Food and Drug Safety, and the Korea Food Industry Association will participate as cooperating organizations.
At the launch ceremony held on the 10th on the main stage of Hall D at COEX in Seoul, attendees included Minister Han Seong-sook of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Vice Minister Kim Jong-gu of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Vice Minister Kim Yong-jae of the Ministery of Food and Drug Safety, as well as government official and key figures from the food industry.
Daesang said it has continuously invested in building a Smart Factory and advancing a digital-based production management system to improve food production efficiency and strengthen quality competitiveness. Through participation in this alliance, the company plans to share manufacturing innovation capabilities and expand cooperation among large, mid-sized, and small corporations to help enhance the competitiveness of Korea's food industry.
Centering on its brands Chung Jung One and Jongga, Daesang has entered global markets such as the United States, Europe, and Southeast Asia. Through participation in this alliance, it plans to raise export competitiveness across the food industry.
A Daesang official said, "The K-food smart manufacturing alliance is a meaningful forum for the food industry to jointly strengthen manufacturing innovation capabilities and enhance competitiveness in the global market," adding, "Daesang will contribute to the sustainable growth and competitiveness of the K-food industry based on AI-driven smart manufacturing innovation and mutually beneficial cooperation."
Meanwhile, Daesang took part in Asia's largest food trade fair, "THAIFEX–Anuga Asia 2026," held from the 26th to the 30th of last month (local time) in Bangkok, Thailand, and is focusing its capabilities on K-food's overseas expansion by rolling out businesses centered on seaweed, kimchi, ready-to-eat meals, and seasonings across 10 Southeast Asian countries including Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand.
