CJ Group Chairman Lee Jay-hyun visited Olive Young's first U.S. store to review strategies for expanding in North America. The plan is to strengthen collaboration among affiliates in beauty, food, logistics, and content, including Olive Young, to boost local competitiveness.
CJ Group said on the 31st that on the 29th (local time) the chairman visited Olive Young's first U.S. store in Pasadena, Los Angeles (LA), to check opening preparations and discuss directions for expanding business in North America.
At the site, the chairman said, "The opening of Olive Young's first U.S. store is more than simply opening a single location; it is the first step into the United States, the world's largest market, and a great beginning toward the world," adding, "We must spread a healthy and stylish lifestyle culture to U.S. customers."
CJ plans to secure key commercial districts in the western region centered on California, then expand into the eastern and south-central regions. It is also pursuing ways to create synergy with the group's food and entertainment businesses, including Bibigo, Tous Les Jours, and KCON.
CJ CEO Kim Hong-gi, CJ Olive Young CEO Lee Seon-jeong, and CJ Group Future Strategy Head Lee Seon-ho accompanied the visit. Before arriving in LA, the chairman also visited CJ CheilJedang's food U.S. subsidiary in Minnesota. It was the first visit in about seven years since 2019.
At the meeting, the chairman emphasized expanding collaboration among affiliates. He said, "It is important to become one team as a 'life company' with many attributes—food, beauty, style, and convenience—to create synergy," adding, "Based on the 'OnlyOne' spirit that pursues first, best, and differentiation, we must become the 'number one' corporations in the food market."
The chairman also reviewed plans to expand North American operations for major affiliates such as CJ Foodville, CJ ENM, and CJ Logistics. He plans to stay in the United States until early next month, assess competitiveness in future content businesses such as ScreenX and 4DX, and meet with people in the content and media industries to discuss global cooperation.
