Convenience store CU, operated by BGF Retail, is now selling tteokbokki made with in-store instant cookers. According to BGF Retail on the 10th, cumulative sales of the Mijeongdang instant tteokbokki, released in April, have surpassed 30,000 units. That came just a month after its launch.
Mijeongdang instant tteokbokki, released at the end of March, is priced at 3,500 won and is designed so that scanning its dedicated barcode on the instant ramen cooker automatically adjusts the water amount. It can be cooked easily for one person, and customers can add vegetables, jjajang ramen, cheese, hot bar, dumplings, and more to suit their tastes.
In particular, BGF Retail also rolled out "instant tteokbokki vegetable pack." The price is set at 1,500 won. When purchased with tteokbokki, it costs 3,900 won. The product contains chopped green onion and cabbage in bite-sized pieces, and it is expected to drive bundled sales.
Another feature is the way products were planned for various combinations. Buying instant tteokbokki with Nongshim "Chapagetti Beombuk" costs 3,900 won, targeting demand for an "instant jjajang rabokki set." There is also an "instant mala tteokbokki set," designed to be enjoyed with OTOKI "Cup Noodle Malatang."
Previously, CU enjoyed a sales boost by selling "Hangang ramen" using unmanned cookers. It especially proved effective after being introduced as an easy, low-burden option for tourists, including foreigners. BGF Retail's instant ramen sales rose 78.0% in 2024 and 88.0% in 2025.
