Samlip said on the 7th that it has released "Pokémon Bread" with new sticker-seals to mark the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon series.
Samlip said the new products were planned to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the release of Pokémon Red and Green (not released domestically), which launched the Pokémon series. A new set of 100 sticker-seals featuring original illustrations by Pokémon's lead art director Ken Sugimori has been included.
The new products with sticker-seals come in five varieties: ▲ Charizard's Fire Blast Nuclear Spicy Chicken Pang ▲ Venusaur's Vine Whip salty caramel roll ▲ Slowbro's custard cream-filled bread ▲ Pikachu's Parmesan cheese long pound ▲ We are all friends strawberry & chocolate cupcake. They are sold at supermarkets, convenience stores, and online nationwide.
Two types of "sticker-seal books" for storing the sticker-seals (Venusaur, Charizard) are also being introduced. The sticker-seal books are sold through Kakao, Naver, and KREAM.
A Samlip brand manager said, "We released sticker-seals with original sensibilities that will evoke fans' nostalgia and products with special recipes," adding, "We will continue to roll out various marketing efforts using Pokémon to deliver enjoyable experiences and fun to customers."
Meanwhile, the retail industry has recently been ramping up competition in marketing using Pokémon IP (intellectual property). CJ Olive Young is offering Pokémon-linked experiential content throughout May centered on Olive YoungN Seongsu, and food companies such as Baskin-Robbins and Ediya Inc. are continuing collaborations by releasing related products and merchandise.
