Lee Sun-ho, the eldest son of Lee Jay-hyun, chairman of CJ Group, has begun official activities by bringing together members of affiliates' open innovation teams in one place.
According to CJ Group on the 3rd, CJ held the "affiliates open innovation council meetup" on the 20th at the CJ Talent Institute auditorium in Jung-gu, Seoul, with the group head in attendance.
The event was an in-house gathering led by the group's Future Planning Office to consolidate open innovation capabilities across food, commerce, logistics and content.
Since Nov. last year, the group head has overseen the future planning group tasked with discovering the group's next growth engines. At the event, the group head called for consolidation and synergy among affiliates in different industries.
The group head said, "CJ has more disparate industries than other corporations, but from the consumer's perspective, they are tied together at the touchpoint of 'lifestyle,'" adding, "the deeper the exchanges among each company's open innovation organizations, the more opportunities there will be to create value (Value)."
The group head added, "If open innovation activities so far have fought separate battles according to each company's needs, now they must be consolidated for the group's sustainable growth (SustainableGrowth)."
The group head also said, "Let's develop this council not as a one-off event, but into a channel that can sustain open innovation from various perspectives by sharing progress and creating sales opportunities."
A CJ Group official said, "The open innovation council plans to hold regular meetups twice a year, in the first and second halves, and will gradually push to build a platform for sharing investment information among affiliates and to advance the design of startup synergies."
