Sangmidang Holdings said on the 30th that it carried out a social contribution effort linking scholarship support and career education.
Sangmidang Holdings recently provided scholarships totaling 270 million won to 150 university students through its social contribution program "Happy Scholarship." The program was created to ease the financial burden on young people who juggle studies and work and to support a stable learning environment.
The scholarship recipients consist of university students working at stores and candidates recommended externally. Each student receives about 1.8 million won, and extra points are given when applying for jobs. Since 2012, the company has supported about 5.4 billion won to 3,077 people in total.
A career exploration program for children and teenagers, "My dream is pâtissier," is also underway. It helps teenagers interested in confectionery and baking explore their aptitudes and career paths, and 845 people have taken part since 2012. The cumulative support amounts to about 1.17 billion won.
The program operates by combining education, competitions, and scholarship support. In particular, this year it linked education, training, and scholarships, and some participants will receive opportunities for professional academy training and scholarships for obtaining certifications.
Both programs are known to reflect the intent of Chairman Hur Young-in of Sangmidang Holdings. According to Sangmidang Holdings, the scholarship initiative reflects a commitment to help young people receive practical support so they can prepare for the future, while the career exploration program embodies a talent-nurturing direction that supports participants in moving beyond experience to actual career planning.
A Sangmidang Holdings official said, "Through the two programs, we are continuing a talent cultivation framework that encompasses young adults and teenagers," adding, "We plan to continuously advance a social contribution model that combines scholarship support with vocational education."
