Agricultural corporation Hyanggi Pumeun Suulseom said on the 29th that its product "Suulseom Black Tea Korean rice wine" won the grand prize in the Korean traditional liquor Korean rice wine fresh makgeolli institutional sector at the "2026 Korea Wine & Spirits Awards."
Now in its 13th year, the Korea Wine & Spirits Awards is Korea's representative liquor tasting event. With the goal of "discovering good domestic liquors to promote them widely and supporting the formation of a sound drinking culture," ChosunBiz has hosted it annually since 2014.
This year's event drew entries of 1,118 brands from 260 companies. It is the largest among domestic tasting events that cover comprehensive liquors. Of these, 449 brands won the grand prize.
Suulseom Black Tea makgeolli, selected for the grand prize this time, is a makgeolli fermented using rice and green tea from the Boseong area of South Jeolla. Its alcohol content is 11%. It is characterized by a pink hue and a smooth, fragrant taste. By blending the subtle aroma of black tea with the sweetness of rice, it achieves a flavor reminiscent of milk tea.
