Shinsegae Group said on the 29th that it will carry out a reorganization of its Management Strategy Office, the group's "control tower." The aim is to realign the operating organization around Chairman Chung Yong-jin.
According to Shinsegae Group, Deputy Minister Lim Young-rok, who was selected as the first head of the Management Strategy Office and has served to date, will step down. Lim has been handling the duties of the office head and serving as CEO of Shinsegae Property.
Going forward, Lim will focus fully on major projects as CEO of Shinsegae Property, including "Starfield Cheongna" and "Hwaseong Starbay City." Until a new head of the Management Strategy Office is appointed, the office will, for the time being, serve as the group's control tower centered on Chairman Chung Yong-jin.
The Management Strategy Office has been revamped to transform into an innovation organization that will identify future growth engines and execute boldly. A Shinsegae Group representative said, "In a rapidly changing market environment, we decided to proceed with this reorganization to execute 'faster and more accurate' innovation," adding, "Internally, the Management Strategy Office will lead bold challenges, and externally, it will evolve into an organization that presents a vision to lead the domestic retail market to achieve greater customer satisfaction."
In particular, this reorganization and personnel move is seen as a decisive step to focus on large-scale projects. Earlier, Shinsegae Group identified artificial intelligence (AI) as the group's next growth business and, to push ahead with the construction of the "Korea Sovereign AI Factory," the country's largest AI data center (250 MW), signed a memorandum of understanding with Reflection AI in Mar.
