New Zealand winery Forrest Wines said on the 23rd that its entry "The Doctors' Riesling" won the grand prize in the white wine (New World, 30,000 won or more and less than 60,000 won) category at the 2026 Korea Wine & Spirits Awards.
Marking its 13th year, the Korea Wine & Spirits Awards is Korea's representative liquor competition. With the goal of "discovering good domestic liquor, promoting it widely, and supporting the formation of a sound drinking culture," ChosunBiz has held it annually since 2014.
This year's event drew 260 companies submitting a total of 1,118 brands. It is the largest among domestic competitions that cover comprehensive liquor. Of these, 449 brands won the grand prize.
The Doctors' Riesling, selected as this year's grand prize winner, is a white wine with 9% alcohol. It features fresh acidity and a subtle sweetness of fruit alongside bright flavors of apple, lemon sherbet, and apricot. In particular, Forrest Wines noted that, while reducing the burden of heavy drinking yet preserving flavor, it has recently established itself as a new option for the "light drinking culture."
A Forrest Wines official said, "The Doctors' Riesling is a wine you can enjoy without pressure at gatherings with friends and acquaintances," adding, "It will be a new option for consumers who want a light yet rich taste."
