The white wine "Grande Réserve Blanc" from "Domaine Saint Jean de la Cavalerie" won the grand prize in the Old World white wine category (30,000 won or more and less than 60,000 won) at the "2026 Korea Wine & Spirits Awards," it said on the 22nd.
Grande Réserve Blanc is a wine produced in France's Languedoc region, made from grapes grown in soils of mixed clay and limestone. Night harvesting and pneumatic pressing were used to preserve the aroma of the materials and supplies as much as possible.
Fermentation proceeds at a low temperature of 15–17 degrees, followed by aging on fine lees to add depth of flavor. Some is aged in oak barrels to enhance structure and complexity.
This wine has a bright golden hue, with floral aromas interlaced with subtle spicy notes, and is characterized by a smooth, well-balanced texture and acidity. It is regarded as fresh, with a long finish that leaves a refined aftertaste.
The Korea Wine & Spirits Awards is Korea's leading liquor competition, now in its 13th year. With the goal of "discovering good domestic drinks and promoting them widely, and supporting the formation of a sound drinking culture," ChosunBiz has hosted it annually since 2014.
This year's event saw 260 companies submit a total of 1,118 brands. It is the largest among domestic competitions covering all categories of liquor. Of these, 449 brands won the grand prize.
