Lotte Department Store will expand shopping promotions for foreign customers to coincide with the early May "Golden Week" holidays in major countries such as China and Japan.
Lotte Department Store said on the 22nd that it will hold a "Shopping Week" targeting foreign customers during the holiday period that includes China's Labor Day starting May 1.
First, at all Lotte Department Store and Lotte Outlet locations, from today through the 10th of next month, customers using WeChat Pay will receive an instant 50-yuan discount coupon when paying 1,200 yuan or more. A 5% favorable exchange-rate coupon will also be provided.
From the 24th through the 10th of next month, benefits will also be offered for Line Pay Taiwan users. A 10% Line Points accrual will be provided for payments of 200,000 won or more, and the coverage has been expanded to all locations, including Lotte World Mall.
A tax refund extra rebate event will also be held. From the 1st to the 6th of next month at the main store and Jamsil store, customers paying with UnionPay will receive a 10% instant discount along with an additional 10% of the tax refund amount. At seven major stores with a high proportion of foreign customers, gift certificates worth 7% will be given for fashion and sports purchases.
Benefits in the beauty category have also been strengthened. During the same period, when purchasing from the top 10 brands preferred by foreign customers, including Sulwhasoo, gift certificates worth 5% will be offered by spending tier.
The company also plans to accelerate efforts to expand touchpoints with Greater China customers. Lotte Department Store opened official channels last month on the Chinese platforms Gaode Map and Dazhong Dianping. On Dazhong Dianping, the page visitor conversion rate reached 40%, reflecting strong interest.
It is also strengthening content marketing using the Chinese social media (SNS) Xiaohongshu. During the Golden Week next month, it plans to highlight key shopping benefits through main banner ads to drive customer traffic.
Park Sang-woo, head of marketing at Lotte Department Store, said, "Record-high demand for travel to Korea is expected during the May holidays," and noted, "We have further strengthened benefits optimized for the shopping convenience of free independent travelers (FIT)."
