EDIYA COFFEE said on the 20th that it opened its first store in Canada inside the Galleria Supermarket K-Town location in the Thornhill area of Toronto. It appears to be making a full-fledged push into the North American market.
According to EDIYA COFFEE, the first Canadian store officially opened on the 18th. From the first day, customers kept coming and long lines formed. In addition to Korean residents living locally, locals interested in Korean-style drinks and desserts were also said to have visited the store.
Canada is an active coffee-consuming market and is cited as one of the places where interest in K-food continues to grow. In particular, EDIYA COFFEE plans to establish an initial foothold by choosing the Toronto area, which has a high proportion of Koreans, as its first base and to settle into the local market by leveraging menu competitiveness and operational know-how.
Along with showcasing Korean-style drinks, including EDIYA COFFEE's signature Almond Chocolate (Amangchu) and Strawberry Overload Latte, as well as Dalgona Latte and sikhye, it will offer Canada-only items such as ▲ Maple Nut Cream Latte ▲ Signature Half & Half Latte. In particular, it will roll out popular Korean bakery items like Honey Caramel Bread and Dalgona Ice Cream Waffles, and will also introduce Korean-style burrito and sandwich items using buldak and bulgogi.
Starting with this first store, EDIYA COFFEE is considering expanding to a third store within the year. At the same time, it is preparing to open a store in Laos this year. It appears set to accelerate its global market expansion.
An EDIYA COFFEE official said, "Through this first Canadian store, we plan to introduce the taste and culture of Korean coffee to the local market," adding, "Based on EDIYA COFFEE's unique menu competitiveness and brand operation capabilities, we will provide a differentiated experience to local customers and steadily broaden the presence of a homegrown Korean coffee brand in the global market."
