Lotteria, the burger franchise brand operated by Lotte GRS, said on the 9th that its new product "Dijige Spicy Pork Cutlet" surpassed a cumulative 500,000 units sold just two weeks after launch.
Dijige Spicy Pork Cutlet is a product released in collaboration with Onjeong Pork Cutlet, the original shop behind "Dijinda Pork Cutlet," famous for its extremely spicy flavor. On the 18th, Lotteria released two versions: "Dijinda flavor," with a Scoville rating nearing 25,000, and the sweet-and-spicy "seasoned flavor." In particular, the Dijinda flavor is gaining popularity among consumers enthusiastic about spicy food through social media (SNS) as a so-called "spicy challenge."
According to Lotte GRS, Dijige Spicy Pork Cutlet has already exceeded its target by 87%. Considering that the previously released Uirak fried chili peppers surpassed a cumulative 1 million units three months after launch, and Cheongju Crazy Dumplings and Spicy Dumplings sold a cumulative 450,000 units in the first month, Lotte GRS said Dijige Spicy Pork Cutlet is selling at a fast pace.
A Lotte GRS official said, "Dijige Spicy Pork Cutlet is a new product introduced in step with the spicy trend so customers can test and experience their 'maep-bu-sim (pride in being good at eating spicy food),'" adding, "We plan to continue delivering special joy in everyday life with a variety of new products and differentiated flavors."
