Palpal Yangjojang Co., Ltd., an agricultural corporation, said on the 9th that it won two awards at the 2026 Korea Wine & Spirits Awards.
On this day, according to Palpal Yangjojang, the flagship products "Hard Potion" and "Apgujeong Makgeolli Won" won the grand prize in the our traditional liquor Korean rice wine category at the 2026 Korea Wine & Spirits Awards.
Hard Potion is a makgeolli brewed with top-grade Chucheong rice grown in Gimpo. As an undiluted original liquor, it is characterized by a graceful sweetness and intense flavor that can be fully appreciated.
It also does not use artificial sweeteners so that the lively pear-like sweetness, the fresh acidity reminiscent of tropical fruit, and the elegant flavors inherent to the raw ingredients can linger on the palate.
Apgujeong Makgeolli Won (元), the signature product of the premium makgeolli brand Apgujeong Makgeolli, is characterized by combining a modern sensibility and an upscale strategy with makgeolli, which has been viewed as a "popular and inexpensive liquor."
In particular, Palpal Yangjojang said it has built a differentiated identity as a sophisticated and urban Korean traditional liquor by embedding Apgujeong, a symbolic district of Seoul, in the brand name. It is a premium draft makgeolli brewed in the traditional way using 100% top-grade Gimpo Geumssal produced in the Gimpo region.
A Palpal Yangjojang official said, "Using this award at the Korea Wine & Spirits Awards as a springboard, we plan to accelerate not only the expansion of premium domestic channels but also our push into overseas markets such as Japan."
The Korea Wine & Spirits Awards is Korea's leading liquor competition, now in its 13th year. With the goal of "discovering good domestic liquors and promoting them widely, and supporting the formation of a sound drinking culture," ChosunBiz has held it annually since 2014.
This year's event drew 260 companies submitting a total of 1,118 brands. It is the largest among domestic competitions covering comprehensive liquors. Of these, 449 brands won the grand prize.
