Burger King said on the 9th that it has teamed up with chef You Yong-wook of You Yong-wook BBQ Lab, who appeared on Netflix's cooking variety show "Culinary Class Wars," to launch a new "Smoke Beef Rib Whopper."
Burger King said it planned the collaboration with Chef You so customers could enjoy a premium gourmet experience in stores. A pop-up store held for several hours in Seongsu-dong drew large crowds, building anticipation even before the unveiling.
Burger King said it "completed a high-end barbecue flavor by combining Chef You's smoking know-how with Burger King's unique flame-grilling technique."
The new "Smoke Beef Rib Whopper" applies the recipe of Chef You's signature menu item, "Signature Beef Rib," to a Whopper. The "Smoke Bacon Whopper" features "Korean pork bacon" in a Whopper. It is also introducing a "Smoke Beef Rib Sandwich Burger." Sales begin today at Burger King locations nationwide, except for some stores.
A Burger King official said, "We focused on delivering quality so that anyone can enjoy a recipe from a barbecue master recognized by Michelin at Burger King stores nationwide."
