GS25, a convenience store operated by GS Retail, said on the 5th it will launch "lunchbox of the month: picnic edition." It appears aimed at the April outing season.
The lunchbox of the month released this time was designed around finger foods. It reflects the seasonal feature of increased outdoor activities such as flower viewing and camping. The lunchbox consists of 10 side dishes in total, including ▲ musubi ▲ ball-cutlet skewers ▲ mini loin pork cutlet ▲ scored marinated pork roast ▲ hamburg steak, and more.
The lunchbox of the month sets a concept for the first week of every month, introduces a new lunchbox menu, and is sold only during that month. It is operated as a strategic product that presents a new lunchbox every month by reflecting seasonal demand and the latest consumer trends. Previously released products—January "best value" edition, February Lunar New Year edition, and March semester start edition—each ranked No. 1 in monthly sales.
Buoyed by this popularity, GS25's lunchbox sales in January this year rose 18.8% from a year earlier. In February, they increased 20.8% from a year earlier, and in March, they were up 21.8% year over year.
Min Jeong-hwan, an MD on GS Retail's FF team, said, "Starting with the lunchbox of the month, we will continue to focus on innovation efforts to strengthen the competitiveness of convenience store ready-to-eat meals."
