Daebatgoeul Agricultural Corporation said on the 2nd that it won two grand prizes at the 2026 Korea Wine & Spirits Awards. Its flagship products, Dam The Original and Dam Breeze, won in the traditional liquor yakju/cheongju category and the traditional liquor other category, respectively.
The Korea Wine & Spirits Awards is Korea's leading alcoholic beverage competition, now in its 13th year. With the goal of "discovering good domestic liquors, promoting them widely, and supporting the formation of a sound drinking culture," ChosunBiz has hosted it annually since 2014.
This year's event drew 260 companies, which submitted a total of 1,118 brands. It is the largest among domestic competitions that cover comprehensive alcoholic beverages. Of these, 449 brands won the grand prize.
Dam The Original is a liquor brewed with bamboo sap harvested from bamboo forests in Sacheon, South Gyeongsang, as the main ingredient. Using bamboo sap that can only be obtained during certain times of the year, it is made solely with bamboo sap, freshly harvested rice, and nuruk, without adding water. The product has won the grand prize in the traditional liquor yakju/cheongju category for three consecutive years.
Dam Breeze also won the grand prize in the traditional liquor other category. It is a 23% fortified liquor made by blending a distilled spirit of Dam The Original with the base liquor, featuring a relatively weighty body and a clean finish.
Daebatgoeul Agricultural Corporation produces traditional liquor using local ingredients, based on bamboo forests in Sacheon, South Gyeongsang. It excludes artificial additives and continues a manufacturing method centered on natural ingredients.
Kang Tae-uk, head of Daebatgoeul, said, "We are honored to receive two grand prizes at the nation's largest liquor awards," and added, "We will continue to take the lead in widely promoting the excellence of our traditional liquor and pristine bamboo through healthy and delicious drinks that capture the clear energy of bamboo."
