OURHOME said on the 2nd that it will launch a new social contribution program, the "On The Go Project."
The project, meaning "add warmth and share worries," borrows its name from OURHOME's flagship lunchbox brand, ONTHEGO. It is a program that provides a meal to children and teenagers without guardians or from low-income families.
OURHOME said, "After being incorporated into Hanwha Group last year, we reviewed various initiatives that could contribute to society and decided to carry out activities that leverage the characteristics of a comprehensive food corporations."
The new social contribution program will run in two parts: On The Go Time, which uses a food truck to provide a special meal, and On The Go BOX, which delivers high-protein lunchboxes.
The On The Go Time food truck visited Zion Children's Home in Gangseo District, Seoul, on the 31st as its first destination. As a social welfare institution in the community where OURHOME's headquarters is located, it served chicken steak, pork ribs, cheese-grilled shrimp, wheel cheese pasta, and Dubai choco waffles, all cooked on-site by an OURHOME chef.
About 20 executives and employees, including OURHOME CEO Kim Tae-won, attended the event, took sticker photos, and held career counseling, spending time communicating with the children. Kim said, "It is very meaningful to be able to give children a meaningful gift in a way that best leverages OURHOME's strengths," adding, "We will not stop at one-off support and will continue various assistance going forward."
On The Go BOX, which delivers a special meal in partnership with the social welfare organization G Foundation, will visit community child centers every month to deliver high-protein lunchboxes to about 100 children and teenagers.
On The Go BOX was first delivered on the 25th to the Seed Community Child Center, Nanum Plus Community Child Center, and Yeonggwang Community Child Center in Dobong District, Seoul.
The lunchboxes feature a protein-focused menu, including premium Korean beef, known as hanwoo, bulgogi and spicy stir-fried pork. Gift bundles containing snacks such as the recently popular Dubai jjondeuk cookie and protein nuts were also delivered.
Lee Dong-seong, head of the Seed Community Child Center, said, "OURHOME's heartfelt lunchboxes were more than a meal; they gifted children the warm comfort and excitement of being cared for," adding, "I hope this sharing becomes a meaningful journey together for the children's happy future."
