Oriental Brewery said on the 31st that it carried out environmental cleanup activities around the Bokhacheon stream near the Icheon brewery and moved to protect local water resources. The effort is meant to reaffirm the value of "water," a key ingredient in beer production, and contribute to the conservation of water resources in the local community.
According to Oriental Brewery, on the 27th, about 30 employees at the Icheon brewery collected discarded household trash along the Bokhacheon stream trail and riverbank in Icheon to mark World Water Day. The company also conducted training to improve water efficiency in production processes so that efforts to protect water resources continue in daily production work.
With the Icheon brewery's activities, Oriental Brewery wrapped up its World Water Day relay environmental protection campaign across the company's three production breweries nationwide, following the Gwangju brewery on the 9th and the Cheongju brewery on the 13th this month. Oriental Brewery carries out cleanup activities every year focused on streams near its breweries, fulfilling the responsibility of corporations for protecting local water resources and conserving the environment.
Kim Du-young, head of Oriental Brewery's Icheon brewery, said, "Bokhacheon is a precious resting place for local residents and an ecological asset, and we hope this employee-led activity will, in a small way, help protect the local environment," adding, "We will continue to protect water resources with the local community and fulfill our role as a corporate citizen responsible for the environment."
