"Daisy chestnut walnut cookies," which drew attention at singer G-Dragon's fan meeting, signaled a hit even before their official launch as requests for proxy purchases appeared online.
On the 25th, used-goods platforms and social networking services (SNS) saw posts saying, "I'll stand in line and buy it for you," and "I'll pay a service fee; looking for a proxy purchase," timed to the product's launch on the 26th.
Some users also recruited preorder buyers with a full-refund condition if the purchase failed due to a sellout.
The Daisy chestnut walnut cookies, dubbed "G-Dragon walnut cookies," were offered as a "reverse fan gift" from the singer to fans waiting outdoors during G-Dragon's solo fan meeting on the of last month.
The product features bonui chestnut paste made from domestic chestnuts to bring out the ingredients' flavor. A daisy-shaped chocolate, the symbol of G-Dragon's fashion brand PEACEMINUSONE, was also added.
The walnut cookies are part of the "LOVE&PEACE" project, a collaboration between FG, an F&B corporations that operates Buchang Confectionery, and Just Peace, a public-interest foundation established by G-Dragon. Rather than focusing on commercial productization, G-Dragon and Buchang Confectionery discussed pursuing public interest. A portion of sales will be donated through the G-Dragon foundation, aiming to connect consumption and donations.
"Daisy chestnut walnut cookie clicker keyring" merchandise will also be released. The keyring reflects the product's form so the project's meaning can carry into everyday life beyond a simple souvenir.
The products will be sold exclusively at the Shinsegae Department Store Gangnam branch from the 26th to the 5th of next month.
A Buchang Confectionery official said, "We wanted to make giving a donation an everyday experience rather than something special," adding, "We hope many customers will join in the moment when a small choice leads to meaningful change."
